Hibachi Chefs Wear Armani

'Are you serious?' Morgan stared at Anna in shock.

'Is it the string cheese? Because I can be reasonable. I'm willing to try some cheddar. Maybe a little muenster on special occasions.'

Anna, his little Gothic goddess, his tattooed angel of love, just looked back at him, a small, sympathetic smile on her face.

'It's not the cheese, Morgan. This just isn't working for me anymore.'

He sputtered. 'Not working? You said you loved me! You came to Hawaii with me. Anna - You signed a lease!'

Anna had the grace to look guilty as she hitched her bag higher on her shoulder.

'I know, and I'm sorry, but things have changed. What I want has changed. I left you a check for the rent,' she coaxed.

He just couldn't comprehend it. After everything they'd gone through, what had finally tipped the scales?

'Is it because I failed out of Hibachi school? I told you, Anna, those knife skills are genetic!'

He stopped as a horrible thought occurred to him. His eyes widened.

'Are you leaving me for another chef?'

Anna rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.

'Yes, Morgan,' she snapped sarcastically, 'I'm leaving you for another Hibachi chef.'

The sarcasm was completely lost on Morgan, who stopped listening after the yes, Morgan part. He couldn't believe this was happening to him. To them. Things had been going so well. They'd been happy. He'd thought his life was finally going somewhere. Then she'd gone home to visit her cousin and when she'd gotten back, she'd hit him with this.

Anna stepped up and kissed him on the cheek.

'Go back to Burbank, Morgan. Chuck will take care of you.'

Then she walked out the door, leaving him to stare at the empty lanai.

He sat down heavily, whispering 'Anna Banana.'

Anna stepped off the airplane into the hot, humid Los Angeles night. They'd told her to pack light, so she picked up her one bag at the carousel and headed out into the parking lot.

A large, well built man in an Armani suit was leaning against a shiny Crown Victoria, smoking a cigar. When he saw her approaching he pulled it from between his teeth.

'You ditch the dwarf?'

Anna scowled.

'He has a name.' Then she slumped.

'But yes. We broke up. Are you sure I couldn't have told him? He must think I'm horrible!'

The man opened the passenger side door and waited for her to get in. Then he closed it and walked around to enter the driver's side.

'Ms. Wu, you are entering a top secret government training program. You can't do that with a bearded midget on your back.'

He looked at her torn face. He could tell she'd been crying. While he couldn't understand why anyone would want to be with Grimes in the first place, much less be upset about leaving him, he did understand having to make that choice between country and love. So he offered her one final out.

'Ms. Wu, this is your last chance. If you have any doubts, any at all, step out of the car now.'

He watched as she squared her shoulders and took a deep breath.

'No, I'm ready. Let's go save the world!'

He grunted in approval and reached into the center console. He pulled out a wet wipe and handed it to Anna.

'Then wipe that crap off your face. You're going to work for the U.S. Government, not a Gothic whorehouse.'

He stuck his cigar back in his mouth and guided the Crown Vic into the night. Of course, if Casey'd had any idea who Grimes' next victim would be, he just might would have ordered Anna to kill the bearded freak before she left him.

One question though, since Anna went back in season 3 and said she wanted Morgan back, how do you explain those actions?  Failed spy school, change of mind, regret, or other? I'll look forward to hearing your ideas. - MC

Check out the sequel, 'Failing 101' for the answer;)  Thanks for taking the time to read and review!

That is a good tie in.  I'd imagine with Casey's daughter's phone number in Morgan's hands, Anna Wu's training would get kicked into diversion and subterfuge to keep the relation chilled.  Of course this would require her to be in proximity to study the subject and add some comedy as it would look very jealous ex if caught or seen.  Casey being a very willing aid to Anna in the hopes of getting the two back together is also likely.  For one in your story line he's the reason his new buddy's relation broke up in a way that shadows his past, and secondly just to save his daughter.  I recall soliders in the army saying they'd welcome their brothers into their homes, die for them in battle if needed, but touch the daughter and your dead!   I could even see Casey evaluate parenting to good military planning to justify a bit of medeling.

As I rather like your storyline. The only item I can question is that you have Anna still in Season 1&2 clothes.  I've also seen some questions from fans on why the change in costume and attitude.  There are also people who really hated "Posh Anna.". Would you consider it Anna trying to match Morgan's last catch?  If so how did she learn of it and react?

Just a thought following your arch... I'm kind of thinking that Casey wouldn't be her only teacher and Carina as a trainer would provide both the skills you mentioned and the skewed Anna image shown in 3:16. (I keep wanting to say "JESUS!" everytime I type that episode number...) Anyway, completing the thought... What could be more Carina then telling her student Anna that she slept with her former love who thought he was telling Carina "no" while he was a mark being played for an example?  It might have been Casey's idea to free up Anna's mind and build Morgan by holding Carina to accept the target only if he says "no" too. (But that seems too dark side for Casey, not Carina though who would see it as fixing two emotionally soft trainees) The effects of that would be quick and life changing for Anna.   Not to mention it completes Carina's one night stand.  Irony being that it's also Morgan's "becoming a man scene" providing his shift in confidence into the spy world.  ;)   Finally, I think saying "no" to an Anna/Carina female character toward the end of season 3 does show real growth for Morgan (compaired to a bedroom scene).  It also does as your second story points out cause a problem for Anna (maybe a few more).   I believe the idea fits a few other episodes in if my memory is correct.  What do you think?

So, with that typed.  Got any Anna training days posted?   - MC

Re:  the clothes - Casey's comment is more in the line of his usual sarcastic self than any real indication of what Anna is wearing, although I imagine in her down time she'd wear what she liked - of course, she could be like Abby in NCIS and somehow manage to morph goth and professional wear together;)

These are the only two pieces so far, but they're just part of a planned line of the kickass!Anna one shots.  I had to deal with the discrepancies in the show before I could do anything else.

I think a Carina/Anna interaction would be pretty interesting, especially if Anna knew about Carina and Morgan's night together...

This is great and I would have to agree. Thanks so much for sharing!
