Following along Chef and Failing - sub plot the bonsai tree

Mid season 3, I noticed that Casey's apartment gained a bonsai tree (was it there before?).  Rather Asian hobby for Mr. Red, White and Blue.  I purpose two possible reasons for the tree being there.

1. Anna gave it to him as a thank you for her training, or taking on Morgan as an agent. Maybe both.

2. Anna was staying at Casey's apartment for some period of her training.

You get to show Anna being behinds the scenes a bit with this and it opens up an interesting relational problem.  What if Casey or Anna liked the other, while Morgan is looking at Casey's daughter Alex?  Chuck also gave that little tree a long look in the scene and protected it as if he might know something more.  Anyway, just a thought.
