Anna's Parents locked in Chinese Prison
OK, just a quick thought that grew a bit as I wrote it out….
I've been trying to work out the whole break up and Anna's parent's interesting past (Chuck vs Crown Vic) while trying to chalk in Wu's great fighting skills. At first I was thinking that the parent's might be international thieves. Then I was thinking about this whole “normal family vs spy life” and concluded that the Wu’s are Taiwanese Spies. Explaining the bad guys wanting them dead and why they would come into possession of the US money printing plates while posing as wealthy socialites working for a charity.
Looking at the real world for some information I found in the Taipei Times, March 13, 2010 the headline “Legislator asks PRC to return ailing spies” stating that “any Taiwanese resident who has served in the military intelligence service is considered an enemy of China.” Further one account states “My sister never came home after she said she went to China on business. That was 11 years ago. She was initially sentenced to death and then it was commuted to 20 years in prison. We hope she can come home as soon as possible, as the weather is bitter cold in Beijing and she is ill,” These are fairly good examples to start the problem facing Anna and leaving with Morgan.
Thinking along the lines of the Intersect and its seemingly growing production, I will add that many if not most newly designed computer chips are made in Taiwan. Chuck’s father likely would have had the chips he needed made there, same for the CIA, the Ring, and so on. With China looking for new technology to grab, Taiwan guards these secrets heavily and why you’ll find companies like Apple there. Look at today’s BBC and you’ll find “Steve Jobs defends conditions at a Taiwanese firm producing Apple products in China, following a spate of suicides” referring to reports of 9 deaths at a factory within a year. (Look a bit more and you’ll find their proto types keep getting lost.) This makes it simple to imagine that the Wu’s went to recover a lost chip used for the Intersect and simply got caught. Anna hearing the news and not wanting Morgan to learn her parents are spies or him otherwise killed, comes up with the Benni Hana excuse sending him to safety in Burbank, CA with the idea she would go free them and return to Morgan later. Unfortunately, she just doesn’t have the chops or enough of a team to save her parents, so she decides (perhaps after hearing her parents recorded “last message”) to live a clean normal life as her parents had hoped. Back to Burbank goes Anna to reunite with Morgan and some hopes of being happy even if her parents are gone forever.
By this time we know Morgan having found his own confidence dumps Anna at the Buy More without her saying much more than a few words and walks off. Anna can’t just say I faked the whole thing and my parents are spies after all. Then in the finale the Buy More is blown up, so….
Anna feeling everything she knew is gone goes at night to the pile of rubble that was the “Buy More”. The CIA using the rubble to cover the entrance to Castle until permits are filed allowing the new store to be built (Damn government red tape) leaves a couple of Mall Cops to watch the fenced in area. Anna jumps the fence and sneaks in, perhaps to find her old locker and something left inside, perhaps to find Jeff has taken over her old locker with Anna’s chard uniform, and grass skirt still inside (he said he’d take leftovers). Then the ground shifts and Anna finds she is in a hole facing the blocked off entrance to Castle with a clean undamaged Buy More tag of Sarah Walker laying in the debris. I’d add in a rabbit hole comment by Anna for some fun.
Knowing that this doesn’t add up and she has stumbled on a secret she investigates Chuck and Sarah to find other pieces of the puzzle knowing Morgan can’t be hiding all that she just found and her parent’s business, her first question is “Who do they work for?” Remember they aren’t CIA anymore, and private ops are more secret and curiously done! This could be all in sub plot with the love triangle going on with Morgan and Casey’s daughter. For comic fun Anna could ruin a date, end up stuck in a closet or whatever mishap during the investigation and then the writers could go back to what happened to her parents and Hawaii later in the season as it would be good misdirection making Anna appear a bit of the fool and jealous ex to Morgan. The fact the other cast members will be hiding their own spy connections could add in more fun to Anna’s search. There can also be some fights based on her keeping Morgan safe from whatever surrounds Chuck and Sarah. All this leading to Anna finding Morgan was the man she needed in life and to help save her parents (Morgan gets to be a hero and less a fool) Getting a key part of the Intersect out of the hands of others helps Chuck if we go with the industrial secret side of her family’s homeland. Not to mention the Anna side story would reinforce that spy families live in this odd flux of keeping “the secret” while hoping to be “normal” when they clearly are not. Rescuing foreign spies is also not the thing the US would acknowledge following the new storyline of things governments won’t do. For a grand exit and twist Chuck, Sarah and Casey could go to being “normal” people with family while the show’s original low in life goalies Anna and Morgan leave to live the life of a secret agent.
Anyway, I’m still jetlagged so I’ll hope someone like the ideas and parts of it make sense to others.

Really creative! There are a lot of great ideas in there that could fit very easily into the Chuck universe. The idea of the Wus being connected to a chip used in the Intersect would be awesome. Chuck has the governor for the Intersect now, but with Papa Bartowski gone, what happens if the Intersect needs to be worked on? We already know Anna Wu is a computer whiz, she could easily be the one to fill that role in the future.
I went through several name tag ideas and eventually came to Sarah's as it would be totally out of place. What I forgot to change in my storyline was that Sarah works for the yogurt stand so that's the business name tag she would find. Main thing is that Anna can't know about Morgan or have a thought on Chuck too immediately. Casey and Sarah should be her first realization there are spies in Burbank. This could also lead Anna to the second enterance of Castle or at least the notation of people disappearing into the freezer. I would imagine security would be tight at the yogurt shop as repairs to Castle would be going through its more narrow enterance. They could also close it stating some underground sewer pipes broke in the Buy More explosion. Again she could suffer some humor as the CIA would do some set dressing as part of the cover.

Another issue about the Intersect is Chuck's data load is getting kind of old. A real agent with the Intersect would require updates (kind of like Windows) to see they aren't jumping into the wrong battles. This could be why a part needs to be found and could also be how Chuck learns of the Wu's. (His last update being before Anna and Morgan left.) A "driver malfunction" between Chuck's governer and the download hardware in Papa's lab could shut down Chuck's intersect to flashing on other spy issues and could also lead to looking for the replacement chip. Problems like this could also explain all the paper files found in the work place where the guy's brain is a super computer? Imagine the annoyance of not being able to get thoughts of your friend's ex out of your head. It could also start with a comment about Anna just before down loading leaving a question that Chuck's brain locks onto his friends troubles too. Remember Chuck's dad had a problem with worrying about Chuck and Ellie, which could have been a functional problem of the Intersect concerning relations.

I was also thinking about the old Pink Panther movies with the Inspector and his servant Kato for some Morgan and Anna scenes. Anna being a kick ass character that kind of keeps falling down because she's hiding from Morgan and protecting him just sounds like fun to me. Also, saving Morgan and some how appearing the fool with a quick "I hate you Morgan Grimes!" at the start of the season is a good belly laugh. After all, being a bit of a loner and without family Morgan is all she has. She could easily be seen in Morgan's apartment chasing some other spy going ninja kick ass to be suddenly alone and yes standing in the middle of her ex's apartment. Morgan likely waking from sleeping on the couch, could have her exit on a "Don't you understand when to stop?" comment with Anna raising her hand with a frustrated and wordless "inch" gesture and stomping out.

There's a lot of fun to the Anna character that I'd love to see back in the show. Anna trying to get back Morgan, protecting him from learning of the spy world due to the gap in thier relation and her knowledge, and finding a solution to her own family problems would be so fun to watch in the sub story.
This is so great. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading it!
